EMA Shifts its Headquarters from London to Amsterdam, The Netherlands

- Post decision of UK moving out from EU with the announcement of Brexit in 2016, EMA initiated shifting of its headquarters (HQs) apart from UK. EMA decided to move its HQs to Amsterdam after voting from EU in Nov,2017 with the loss of 900 jobs in UK
- EMA officially lowered 28 countries flags on 25 Jan,2019 and started closing its former London HQ offices. Dutch government offered temporary premises from 1 Jan,2019 and expected to get its permanent office building in March,2019
- Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA) will be responsible for further approval of new drugs in UK from Mar,2019. EU and the Netherlands agreed for the joint governance structure to deal with staff relocation, financials and legal aspects
